The celebrations of the Accademia’s Fiftieth Anniversary continued in Rome where the President of the Italian Republic, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, received a large delegation from the Accademia led by the President, Giuseppe Dell’Osso, in a special audience held at the Quirinale Palace.

An Audience with the Pope

To crown the various events surrounding our Fiftieth Anniversary, a large group of Accademia members was invited to take part in a general audience in St Peter’s Square with His Holy Father John Paul II. The most significant, however, was the moment when President Giuseppe Dell’Osso was called over to meet Pope John Paul II. Together with various members of the Diplomatic Corp and ecclesiastical authorities, he had the privilege of meeting the Vicar of Christ and conveying the Accademia Italiana della Cucina’s best wishes to him.
