Prizes and Diplomas

The Accademia has established special acknowledgements, prizes and diplomas, for all those who, in various positions, work in the world of gastronomy, and help to diffuse its cultural values and guarantee principles of quality in defence of tradition.

Prize “Orio Vergani”
Established to honour the memory of the founder of the Accademia, it is reserved for the author of one or more literary works about gastronomy. It consists of one valuable graphic work and a cash prize.

Prize “Dino Villani”
In memory of one of the founders and, for a long period of time, Vice President of the Accademia, it is reserved for owners of artisan businesses or small industries which have excelled for some time in the valorisation of Italian alimentary products with high levels of quality. It consists of one valuable graphic work.

Prize “Ettore Pepe”
This cash prize, is subsidised by the Academician Elena Pepe in memory of her husband, Secrectary of the Presidential Council in 1984, and is reserved for that of the Accademia's Delegations which has shown a particular operative efficiency.

Prize “Secondino Freda”
Reserved for the theoretical and practical teachers of hotel training schools. It was established by the Rome Delegation, in collaboration with the Chairmanship, in memory of the great Academician and gastronome.

Diploma of Excellent Cuisine (Diploma di Cucina Eccellente)
Reserved for restaurants in Italy which practice at a high gastronomical level and which are included in the “Guida ai Ristoranti” with a minimum of 3 temples.

Diploma of Good Cuisine (Diploma di Buona Cucina)
Reserved for restaurants offering Italian cuisine, in Italy and abroad, which operate with respect for tradition and quality and which are included in at least two editions of the "Guida ai Ristoranti" with a minimum of 3 temples.
